In February, Stefan Milich, a distinguished academic and translator, specializing in modern and contemporary Arabic literature, visited Baghdad and Al-Nahrain University. With a Ph.D. in Islamic Studies from the University of Freiburg (2008), he has contributed significantly to the field of Arabic literature, particularly focusing on narratives and politics of trauma, Arabic poetry of exile (Iraq, Palestine), and cultural heritage in the Mashriq. Previously, he has been Curator of the "Arabic literature days" at Frankfurter Literaturhaus and scientific assistant at the universities in Stuttgart and Marburg. Currently he is serving as Academic Council (Akademischer Rat) at the Institute for the Languages and Cultures of the Islamicate World, University of Cologne.
