Our Network
The University of Cologne is one of the largest universities in Germany. The university focuses on international exchange. This has resulted in many partnerships with foreign universities in recent years. The university is also part of various funding programmes such as DAAD or Erasmus.
LegalLead is supported in particular by the Institute for International Peace and Security and the Institute for Languages and Cultures of the Islamic World.
A- Institute International Peace and Security Law
The Institute is dedicated to researching and teaching questions of international law in the context of and in cooperation with leading research institutions in Germany and abroad. The focus is particularly on the prohibition of violence in state conflicts and armed conflicts. Beyond the legal framework, this research naturally also includes ethics, history and the political science of international relations.
B-Global Responsibility Unit at the Division International Affairs
The Global Responsibility unit seeks to build up international projects aiming at achieving the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals. Global Responsibility combines internationalization with third mission in order to spread and transfer the knowledge generated by the University of Cologne in our local, regional and global networks and contribute to global change. Global Responsibility expresses thereby an attitude, which defines the role and the motivation of a university to act globally. It emphazises that all actions have a global impact which every individual should be aware of. It is the task of a university to generate and spread knowledge in order to overcome outdated concepts and raise global awareness.
C-Refugee Law Clinic Cologne
The Refugee Law Clinic Cologne was founded in 2013 and is a non-profit organisation. The students use their legal knowledge to support refugees with their asylum applications and other legal issues. Many people who cannot afford a lawyer benefit from this and the students can put their legal skills into practice at the same time. They pass on their experience and knowledge during the workshops and thus support the establishment of new law clinics.
